Vivo\u2019s Y family has been added with a brand-new member called the \u201cVivo Y50 5G.<\/a>\u201d It\u2019s a cheap entry-level phone that serves 5G connectivity at the expense of a weak camera setup and display. Currently, this newcomer is retailing in China with four memory trims. Here\u2019s everything we found on this model. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is yet another phone from Vivo built around a Dimensity 6300 chip. Like many before it, the Y50 5G also punches above its class when it comes to performance. The handset offers you 5G support without breaking the bank, but there\u2019s a lot you need to overlook to get this feature. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s talk display. Right off the bat, Vivo Y50 has a notched cutout on the front and a thick chin. It\u2019s a 6.74\u201d IPS LCD panel with only 570 nits brightness, which struggles with readability under bright lights. But, credit where the credit\u2019s due, the newcomer does offer a fast 90Hz refresh rate, so the user experience should be smooth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The selfie camera on this screen has a meager 5MP sensor hidden in the notch. And the situation isn\u2019t any better on the rear side. From what we\u2019ve gathered, the latest Vivo Y model <\/a>only has a 13MP main shooter on the back with a 0.08MP assisting unit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At least Vivo didn\u2019t compromise in the battery department. The Y50 5G carries a massive 6000mAh cell under the display, which will easily last you two days if you are a light user. They\u2019ve also bundled in a 44W fast charging support with this battery that should help with quick refills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The phone has an IP64 rating, so it\u2019s safe from dust ingress and minor water splashes when it rains. Like any other device launched in recent months, this will give you an Android 15 OS from the get-go. Since it debuted in China, it has a country-specific Origin OS UI.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are four storage and RAM options on this model. The very basic 4\/128GB memory trim has a slow eMMC 5.1 storage, and it costs $165 (~PKR 47,000). Vivo Y50 5G gets steeper as you climb the ladder, with the top 12\/256GB variant (UFS 2.1) demanding upwards of $316 (~PKR 89,000). We are still waiting for the details on its global availability.
