PMEX opens Regulated Deliverable Futures Market for Yellow Maize
Pakistan Mercantile Exchange Limited (PMEX), Pakistan’s only licensed commodity futures exchange, has launched Deliverable Yellow Maize Futures Contract, introducing an exchange-based platform for maize trading, price discovery and physical delivery.
PMEX enables farmers, traders, commission agents, processors, feed manufacturers, exporters, brokers and other market participants to trade yellow maize through standardized futures contracts backed by approved delivery centres and quality certification.
Yellow maize is a key agricultural commodity in Pakistan, supporting the poultry, livestock, feed, starch, and food processing industries. However, the market has traditionally relied on fragmented pricing information and informal trading channels, exposing participants to price uncertainty and market inefficiencies. The PMEX Deliverable Yellow Maize Futures contract addresses these challenges by supporting transparent pricing, standardized quality, physical delivery, and efficient settlement.
Since trading commenced, the Yellow Maize Futures contract has attracted encouraging participation, reflecting growing market interest in exchange-traded agricultural commodities.
As part of its market development efforts, PMEX will conduct targeted roadshows across key maize-producing and trading regions, starting from Pakpattan, to engage market participants, build awareness of the Deliverable Yellow Maize Futures Contract and explain its trading, delivery and risk management benefits.
