inDrive hosts safety workshop for its drivers to promote safer rides

inDrive, the global mobility and urban services platform, has successfully hosted a Safety Workshop for 50 of its drivers in Karachi. The initiative is a core component of the platform’s ongoing commitment to responsible mobility, designed to create a safer, more respectful, and highly accountable experience for both passengers and drivers on Pakistani roads.

The workshop provided drivers with practical education on road safety, accident prevention, professional boundaries, and conflict resolution. By combining defensive driving principles with modern conflict management strategies, the training aims to establish a standard of absolute respect, and mutual accountability across urban commutes.

Awais Saeed, Country Manager for inDrive Pakistan commented, “Safety is the foundation of trust in our ecosystem. This workshop ensures our drivers are fully equipped with both the behavioral training and the cutting-edge technology needed to protect themselves and their passengers. By investing in our drivers’ education, we are raising the benchmark for urban transport security and dignity in Pakistan.”Additionally, the training prioritised driver safety by empowering drivers to identify risky scenarios, utilise conflict de-escalation techniques, manage aggressive passenger behaviours, and deploy personal security measures effectively. To ensure a complete circle of care, the Passenger Safety module educated drivers on respectful behaviour, safe boarding and drop-off zones, and specialised assistance for elderly, disabled, or vulnerable passengers during active trips.

Drivers extensively learned about inDrive’s safety and protection features and how to use them. Pre-Ride Protection shows passenger ratings and visible destinations so drivers can decide before accepting trips. The app also uses secure calls and chats. AI moderation blocks abusive chat and automatically bans offending passengers for 30 days. Drivers were told about inDrive’s permanent accident and health insurance in Pakistan which is renewed annually and covers drivers and passengers during active rides for accidental death, total disability, immediate medical costs, and hospital cash benefits.

Through this unified approach of education, technological innovation, and financial security, inDrive continues to build a sustainable, secure, and dignified livelihood for gig-economy workers across Karachi and the wider region.
